Well, this is kind of like that. Except instead of South Park, it was Rep. Alcee Hastings; instead of Comedy Central, it was the floor of the United States Congress; and instead of fake sex acts, it was actual ones.


This is a continuation of the Congressional debate over whether to extend federal hate crimes legislation to include homosexuals (also covered here).

Now, I don't know if you were expecting me to discuss the merits of the usual conservative debate tactic of lumping in homosexuality with pedophilia and bestiality, or some other sort of reasoned debate about the role of sexuality in society. Maybe we'll get to that some day. But I couldn't really think about any of that until I tracked down the definition of each and every sexual act mentioned by Alcee Hastings in this video. The list, with definitions, is after the jump.

apotemnophilia - sexual desire for an amputee, or to have one's own healthy limb amputated
asphyxiaphilia - the act of intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain for the purposes of sexual arousal
autogynephilia - a paraphilic interest in having female anatomy
coprophilia - an obsessive interest in feces
exhibitionism - a compulsion to exhibit one's genitals in public
fetishism - the compulsive use of some object, or part of the body, as a stimulus in the course of attaining sexual gratification
frotteurism - achieving sexual stimulation by touching or rubbing against a person without that person's consent and usually in a public place
gerontophilia - a sexual attraction to the elderly
incest - sexual intercourse between closely related persons
kleptomania - an irresistable compulsion to steal [ed. I don't know why this is on the list]
klysmaphilia - deriving sexual gratification from enemas
necrophilia - a sexual attraction to corpses
partialism - concentration of sexual interest on one part of the body, i.e. the breasts or the buttocks
pedophilia - a sexual attraction to children
sexual masochism - sexual gratification gained from imposing pain or degredation on oneself
sexual sadism - sexual gratification gained from imposing pain or degredation on others
telephone scatalogia - deriving sexual pleasure from obscene phone calls
toucherism - see frotteurism
transsexualism - a condition in which an individual identifies with a gender different than that which they are born as
transvestic fetishism - having a sexual interest in cross dressing
transgenderism - the act of living as the opposite gender without sexual reassignment surgery
urophilia - deriving sexual pleasure from being urinated on, or urinating on your partner (also called watersports)
voyeurism - deriving sexual pleasure from spying on others engaged in intimate behavior without their knowledge
zoophilia - a sexual attraction to animals
