In general, there are two kinds of science fiction - the kind that uses
the framework of sci-fi to reflect and comment on our own society, and
then there are Halo novelizations and Star Trek slash-fic.
BSG is the first kind, except is also has special effects better than
some feature films and sexy robots. Really, really sexy robots.
I wrote this last year imploring you to start watching Galactica before its was too late. Well, the hour has gotten a bit late: the series finale is tonight. Now is the time for reflection. So if you haven't watched Galactica, or you are still catching up, then I warn you know: ahead thar be spoilers. Turn back before it is too late!
Are you still reading? Okay, then listen up: as great as Galactica has been at wrapping up its mythology this season, there are still some loose threads hanging. Will 2 hours be enough to wrap up the story, answer these questions, and not feel rushed? Here is what I am waiting for:
- Will Head Six and Head Baltar be explained in any kind of satisfying way? And if you don't know what I am talking about: I TOLD YOU THERE WOULD BE SPOILERS WHAT ARE YOU DOING STOP READING.
- Will missing cylon Daniel fit into the story at all, or was he invented for no other reason than to fill in the numerical gap between models Six and Eight?
- Why did the faces of the final 5 Cylons appear to D'Anna in that wacky temple a few seasons ago? Wasn't that temple ancient? Did the final 5 stop on their way to Earth and build a temple to themselves? Does this still not make any goddamned sense?
- Remember when the opening text used to say that the Cylons had a plan? Did they actually have a plan? Because right now, their planning seems about on par with that of the Underpants Gnomes.
- Will we find out what happened to Kara when she apparently died? They HAVE to answer this one, right? RIGHT?? (Important side note: am I supposed to be attracted to Kara Thrace? Because so far... nothin.)
- Will somebody post instructions on the internet on how to make a DIY Colonel Tigh-style eyepatch? Cause I would stab myself in the eye right now if it meant I got to wear that all the time.
